The Matrix 4: Release Date
The Matrix 4 was first scheduled for release on May 21, 2021, in the UK and US.
Filming started in San Francisco in February 2020 and had moved onto Berlin for the next phase. However, in March 2020, production was put on hold (due to the pandemic) to continue at a later date.
By July 2020, however, the cast was back in Berlin to resume filming, and the release date has been pushed back to April 1, 2022.
The Matrix 4: Cast
Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss are back as Neo and Trinity, despite both characters being dead at the end of The Matrix Revolutions.
We’ve already had our first glimpses of Neo and Trinity back in action during filming, but no word yet on how they’re back.
It seems that Jada Pinkett Smith is in talks to return to the role of Niobe, who she played in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions.
Neil Patrick Harris of How I Met Your Mother fame has signed onto the cast for a significant role.
Marvel star Jessica Henwick is in talks to play a leading role. You’ll recognize her from the Netflix series Iron Fist, but who she’ll play in the Matrix fourquel is still a mystery.
One star who won’t be back from the original trilogy though is Hugo Weaving as Agent Smith, with the actor confirming in January 2020 that “they’re pushing on ahead without me.”
The Matrix 4: Plot
If we’re honest with you, we have no idea what The Matrix 4 will be about as the original trilogy wrapped up the main plot.
Lana Wachowski won’t reveal anything, and neither will any of the cast, so you’ll have to make do for now with theories like maybe the movie will see Trinity as The One or that they’re all clones.
